Dr. Jawad Husain, M.D.

Dr. Jawad Husain is a double-board certified Addiction Psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 2017, having received mentorship in addiction medicine and research from prominent experts. He completed his psychiatry residency at Boston University in 2021, gaining extensive experience with complex psychiatric cases at Boston Medical Center and the Boston VA. Concurrently, he earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Boston University with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics, supported by a full-ride scholarship. From 2021-2023, he completed his Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship through the Mass General Brigham/Harvard Medical School program, publishing first-author research in medical journals and presenting his findings at national conferences.

From 2023-2025, Dr. Husain served as an attending psychiatrist in inpatient psychiatric units for the MA Department of Mental Health, treating severely ill patients committed to state hospitals. During this time, he also regularly testified as an expert witness in forensic cases within the MA criminal justice system.

In 2025, Dr. Husain joined McLean Hospital's Division of Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction as a staff psychiatrist, providing both outpatient and inpatient care. He also serves as an Instructor of Psychiatry, teaching trainees at Harvard Medical School. Also in 2025, he assumed the role of Medical Director at Bedrock Recovery Center, a residential treatment center for addiction and mental health in Canton, MA.

Dr. Husain's clinical approach is humanistic, patient-centered, and evidence-based. He is an expert in psychopharmacology for both substance use and general psychiatric disorders, integrating the latest research into his practice. Beyond substance use disorders, he treats behavioral addictions such as gambling and sex addiction. He is proficient in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and the philosophy of 12-step programs. Driven by a deep commitment to patient transformation, Dr. Husain empowers individuals to unlock their full potential and recover from mental illness and addiction.

    Coding is determined by complexity and/or total time inclusive of the following:
